What an awesome God we serve!

Driving through Winnetka about a half hour ago I saw the most amazing congregation of God's wonder and power. The sun was shining brightly, rain was falling from the sky, a rainbow hovered over me as 5 deer crossed in front of me on the snowy ground. I can't think of a better way to gather a bit of each of the four seasons in one place and time. Thank you, Lord, for reminding me of your might and power.

And for those of you worrying - I know we've all heard of the passage that talks about God keeping and clothing the sparrows, but this morning in Sunday School I heard a passage that makes it even a little more personal. "From one man he made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live." - Acts 17:26 NIV

Not only does God watch over me, clothe me and number the hairs on my head (as if that weren't miraculous enough!) He has determined the exact place where I should live. Wow, if only he would just give me the address LOL! But during this season in my life when many friends and family members have already settled down, or are in the process of settling down into the neighborhoods and houses that they will remain in for the majority of the rest of their lives; and I am still living what feels like a college existence God knows where I will be in my future, and I find great solace in that knowledge.

Did you know?

That the Serenity Prayer has a second verse? Thank you, FlyLady (www.flylady.net) for pointing this out!

The Serenity Prayer

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with HimForever in the next.
Amen.

--Reinhold Niebuhr

Please Lord, grant me the patience and understanding to take this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it.
